#travel #blog NOMADasaurus

Another week, another update of the #travel1k leaderboards for the week of August 30th, and we are at … oh dear, fell out of the top 200, all the way to #251. Tsk tsk, need to pump up #those #travel #tweeting #tasks #thoroughly, we do.

This week we saw the biggest climbs from South American Postcard (up 493 places to 349th), TravelTuesday (up 324 places to 525th).

We welcome our two new travel bloggers Austin Dixon (503rd), and Pipa Marketing(908th). to the #travel1k Top 1000+ Travel Blogs board.

It hasn’t been such a good week for travel bloggers Miss Walking Shoes (down 564 to 922nd), ESL Carnival (down 529 to 878th), and Ankita & Mohit (down 383 to 809th). Help me encourage them to do better next week!

So let’s skim down the leaders to find our new blog to check out this week; and here it is, up from #15 last week to #12: @NOMADasaurus ’s NOMADasaurus!

We started this website at the end of 2013 as a way to document our overland journey from Asia to Africa without flying. A few years later and this is now one of the most popular adventure travel blogs on the internet, and we have to admit we’re pretty proud of that!

We never thought this site would grow into what it is now, with this blog being our full-time jobs now and over 140’000 social media followers from around the world all checking in to see what’s happening as we travel non-stop. In fact we didn’t even want to start a travel blog in the beginning! We’d already been on the road for 5 years when we started our overland journey, and it was only because so many of our friends told us to make one that we did.

This site has changed a bit over the last few years. Today we specialise in adventure travel, sustainable tourism, overland journeys, off the beaten path destinations, photography and creating travel as a lifestyle. We document these experiences with a journalistic style of writing and coupled with captivating photography. Recently we’ve opened up NOMADasaurus to new writers and have a great team behind us bringing out amazing content…

We were already mutual followers on Twitter, so it’s no surprise that this blog is just about exactly the kind of thing that we’re aiming for here, if it develops in the next five years as well as theirs has in their last five years, we’ll be quite happy thanks.

Well, aside from that they’re a couple, and they just wander around having adventures not focused laser-sharp on the WHS ticking like we are…

… but y’know, we’re going to work in all the adventures along the way too if we can. Like this one we retweeted while writing this up:

Yeah, that’s one been on the bucket list for a while. Actually, a whole lot of what they’ve done already is on the bucket list, a refreshing change from our usual “been there done that” flipthroughs of these popular blogs.

Technically, BuiltWith tells us it’s a standard WordPress technology stack, theme is apparently Divi, nothing unusual here.

So yep, since this is one of the vanishingly few blogs that makes a habit of being more adventurous in their travels than we are, we signed up for the newsletter and we’ll be placing them firmly in the ‘Role Model’ blogger category, encourage you to follow them too!
