#travel #blog Wherever I May Roam

SWEET! The #travel1k leaderboard release for the week of October 4th is out, the first that counts your blog activity as well as Klout + Twitter…

…and this humble blog here has CATAPULTED up 158 places to #53! Kinda expected we’d benefit by the changes, but not that much. Some other massive movements too:

This week we saw the biggest climbs from Sabine de Witte (up 447 places to 315th), Emyr Thomas (up 417 places to 344th), and John Morris (up 376 places to 127th).

We also welcome new travel bloggers HH LifestyleTravel (131st), David Fiske (582nd) and Kevin’s Travel Diary (720th) to the #travel1k Top 1000+ Travel Blogs board.

Well done to this week’s top three Jeana TravelsSandy N Vyjay Voyager, and Melody Pittman.

So let’s go see how these changes shook up the mostly static set at the top — and wow did it ever, an awful lot of these blogs didn’t have a single new post this week, in the top 150 there’s only three of us that stick to a post a day or more.

So our new blog to check out this week is all the way up at #3, up from #21 last week: @melodytravelsWherever I May Roam!

I am Melody Pittman, originally from Charleston, WV, but transplanted to sunny Vero Beach, Florida, where I live with my husband Eddie, dog Priscilla, and cat Harlow. We are the parents of daughters Taylor and Peyton, my best friends and pride and joys. After 20 years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, 4 years of owning/managing/operating my own cafeterias and catering business, and my husband selling his franchise business, we semi-retired to the South. We are currently building long term rental houses and living as part-time expats in the mountains of Boquete, Panama…

My name is Taylor Pittman Hardy and I am Melody’s oldest and favorite daughter (she did not verify this). I am proud to be from Charleston, West Virginia and I will always be a Mountaineer at heart. College took me to Mississippi and I had the very best experience at Ole Miss. It has become my home away from home and I will always cherish my time spent in Oxford. Most recently, my husband, Blake, and I bought a house in Brandon, Mississippi…

A mother + daughter blog? OK, that’s a new one!

Flipping through the posts, mostly focused on the US, with ones here and there about Panama and further abroad … oh, here’s one near Moscow, where we’re speaking soon and all:

My Dream Destination: St. Petersburg

One of the best cruises in my 46 cruise arsenal would have to be the Baltic Capitals cruise that I took with Norwegian Cruise Lines. With an itinerary including such fabulous cities as St. Petersburg (even an overnight!), HelsinkiTallinn, Copenhagen, and Berlin, this was the trip of a lifetime for me…

46 cruises? Wow, that’s a lot of cruising!

Technically, BuiltWith tells us it’s a standard WordPress technology stack — main notable thing is that they’re the first blog we’ve checked out that like us makes a home at Dreamhost, we were starting to wonder a bit why no one else seems to find it as welcoming as we do but we’ll take this as social validation, sure.

So yep, they don’t overlap much with our own travel interests, but if you’re a mostly US and nearby traveller, check them out!
