#travel #blog LandLopers

Another Wednesday, another #travel1k leaderboard release for the week of October 11th is out, and we are … down a chunk to #80. Eh, still TOP 100! we’re good with that. For now…

This week we saw the biggest climbs from Chris AGreekAdventure (up 684 places to 312th), Mowgli Adventures (up 328 places to 210th), and Bhushavali Bhushavali (125th), Sudipto De(132nd), and Adventurous Trails (365th) to the #travel1k Top 1000+ Travel Blogs board.

Well done to this week’s top three Jeana TravelsMatt Matt, and Howard Blount (Backroad Planet / #TBIN).

And the algorithm change to count posts continues to shake things up, our new blog to check out this week is #2, up from #4 last week: @LandLopersLandLopers!

Who am I? I am a typical Gen-Xer and former cubicle-dweller who has a passion for all things travel. My site brings a unique perspective that is hard to find online. I am not a backpacker, nor did I leave everything behind to see the world. I am just a normal person who has learned how to get the most out of the travel experience. I’m like many people; I have a house, live in the ‘burbs and am even owned by three beautiful dogs, but I have also made travel my profession. If you love adventurous experiences along with the pampering that only great luxury can provide, then this site is the place for you.

LandLopers is a reflection of the things I have seen and learned, as well as a place to find information on a variety of travel topics. I want to make travel more fun and accessible for everyone by providing information on how to experience the best the world has to offer.

A Landloper is a wanderer, an adventurer. At heart, that is who I am and I hope you enjoy reading about the art and science of traveling the world…

Yep, that sounds like the kind of blog we can get behind. We particularly liked this article:

Honest Luxury Travel: What It Is And Why It’s Important

Put all of these concepts together and you have what I am calling Honest Luxury. It’s the way in which we combine the finer elements of the travel experience with the real, unvarnished look into a new destination. For a while I’ve worried that my writing didn’t accurately portray the luxury side of my travels enough. Even though I almost always pay extra for that upgrade and prefer five-star hotels instead of Airbnb, I looked around at other luxury writers and saw something very different. In their articles I saw fine watches and expensive meals detailed almost every day, and I felt as if I wasn’t considered to be a “real” luxury traveler. But then I realized, my own preoccupation with culture, history and the destinations themselves are truly what is at the heart of the luxury experience…

Well, that’s an interesting take. Personally, our impressions of “luxury travelling” is that it’s mostly about shutting yourself off from the locals, which is why you’ll mostly see it sneered at around here —

— but, y’know, we’re always willing to change our opinions if contrary evidence comes along, and if any luxury providers want to provide that evidence to make us come around to the way Matt’s thinking here; well we’re totally open to that.

Technically, BuiltWith tells us it’s a standard WordPress technology stack — yep, that’s a pretty safe default assumption everywhere it seems, really we’re just looking for interesting new plugins at this point.

So yep, Matt is definitely an interesting character and LandLopers is going into our prime newsfeed, recommend you check this blog out for sure!
